Testing Sequence
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See the COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES
article in the GENERAL INFORMATION section before disconnecting battery.
When trouble shooting ABS system, use test procedures in the order they are presented. Using other than recommended procedure could result in wasted time and/or unnecessary replacement of parts. Recommended sequence for diagnosing system is:
- SYSTEM PRECHECKS .
- ABS QUICK CHECK CHART . See Figure .
- PINPOINT TESTS using TROUBLE CODE DIRECTORY.
- SYMPTOM TESTS using SYMPTOM DIAGNOSTIC CHART.
- INTERMITTENT DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE .
