Wipers Inoperative

  1. Ensure WIPER fuse (10-amp) is okay. Unplug connectors from combination switch and wiper motor. Turn ignition on. Check voltage at Blue wire terminal of wiper motor connector and combination switch connector. If battery voltage exists and wipers do not work, go to next step. If battery voltage exists and wipers do not park, replace wiper motor. If battery voltage does not exist, repair Blue wire.
  2. Turn ignition off. Unplug 14-pin connector from combination switch. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between specified switch terminals, with switch in indicated positions. See FRONT WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITY table. See Fig 1 . If each reading is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any reading is 5 ohms or more, replace switch.
  3. Inspect all harness wiring for open and/or short circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Check continuity of Black wire between motor case and ground. Repair Black wire as necessary. If wiring and switch are okay, replace motor.
