Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Open the radiator drain cock and drain the engine coolant to a level below the water outlet connection. Close the radiator drain cock. This procedure will require less refill time than if entire cooling system is drained.

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor:





3. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) electrical connector.
4. Use a deep well socket to remove the ECT sensor from the sensor housing.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the ECT sensor into the housing and tighten to 16-24 Nm (12-18 lb ft).
2. Connect the ECT electrical connector.
3. Connect the battery ground cable.
4. Refill cooling system and check for leaks.
