Spark Plug: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove ignition wires.
2. Loosen spark plugs and, before removing the spark plugs, use compressed air to remove any dirt or foreign material from spark plug areas of cylinder head.

3. Remove spark plugs.

NOTE: If a spark plug is removed for examination, it must be reinstalled in the same cylinder.
a. Cylinders No. 1, No. 2, and 3 have a "PG" suffix.
b. Cylinders No. 4, No. 5, and 6 have a "P" suffix.
If a spark plug needs to be replaced, use only spark plugs with the service number suffix letters "PP" as shown on the engine decal.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse removal procedure.
2. Check and adjust spark plugs.






NOTE: Refer to the Spark Plug Inspection Chart to determine the condition of the spark plugs.

3. Hand-start, then tighten spark plugs to 9-20 Nm (80-177 in lb).
