  2. Using instrument panel dimmer control, turn off interior lights. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Press each button on keypad. Keypad should illuminate. Wait until keypad light goes out before pressing next button. If interior lights or keyhole lights illuminate and vehicle is equipped with anti-theft, go to next step. If interior lights or keyhole lights illuminate and vehicle is not equipped with anti-theft, go to step 13). If interior lights or keyhole lights do not illuminate, go to step 19).
  3. Close all doors and liftgate. Ensure all doors are unlocked. Press keypad button 7/8 and 9/0 while observing interior lights, indicator lights and door locks. If all doors lock, interior lights are off, keypad light is off, anti-theft indicator off when doors closed, anti-theft indicator on for 30 seconds after doors lock and then turn off, go to step 6). If lights and indicators do not operate as specified, go to next step.
  4. Repeat step 3). If interior lights do not stay on for more than 2 minutes, go to next step. If interior lights stay on for more than 2 minutes, go to TEST E: ILLUMINATED ENTRY DOES NOT OPERATE WITH KEYPAD  .
  5. Repeat step 3). If doors remain unlocked or indicator lights remain on, repeat steps 3) through 5). If same results occur, replace keyless entry control module, and repeat test. If doors do not remain unlocked or indicator lights do not remain on, see procedures in TEST B: ALL DOORS DO NOT LOCK  .
  6. Using code sequence that appears on keyless entry control module, enter permanent code by pressing keypad buttons in proper sequence. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Ensure all doors are closed and locked. Open driver's door. If alarm does not sound, go to next step. If alarm sounds, see ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM article.
  7. If keypad light has gone out since previous step, re-enter permanent code. Press 3/4 button on keypad within 5 seconds of entering permanent code. If passenger door unlocks, go to next step. If passenger door does not unlock, repeat step 4). If results do not change, replace keyless entry control module.
  8. If keypad light has gone out since previous step, re-enter permanent code. Press 5/6 button on keypad within 5 seconds of entering permanent code or within 5 seconds of unlocking passenger door with 3/4 button. If liftgate door unlocks, go to next step. If liftgate door does not unlock, go to TEST B: ALL DOORS DO NOT LOCK  or TEST C: LOCKS DO NOT OPERATE  .
  9. Ensure keypad buttons are pressed within 5 seconds of each other. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Enter permanent code into keypad. Press 1/2 button to alert system to accept alternate code. Press keypad buttons 9/0, 7/8, 5/6, 3/4, and 1/2 in sequence. If interior lights turn off after last button is pressed, go to next step. If interior lights do not turn off after last button is pressed, replace keyless entry control module.
  10. Close and lock all doors. Press keypad buttons 9/0, 7/8, 5/6, 3/4, and 1/2 in sequence. If driver's door unlocks, go to next step. If driver's door does not unlock, repeat step 9). If results do not change, replace keyless entry control module.
  11. Ensure keypad light is not on. Enter permanent code into keypad. Press 1/2 button within 5 seconds of entering permanent code. Wait for keypad light to go off (this removes alternate code). Close and lock driver's door. Press keypad buttons 9/0, 7/8, 5/6, 3/4, and 1/2 in sequence. If doors remain locked, go to next step. If doors do not remain locked, replace keyless entry control module.
  12. If vehicle is not equipped with anti-theft, go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with anti-theft, proceed with this step. Ensure doors are closed and locked. Press keypad buttons 7/8 and 9/0 at same time. If anti-theft indicator light does not turn on, go to next step. If anti-theft indicator light turns on, replace keyless entry control module.
  13. Disconnect keyless entry control module 16-pin connector C235. Measure resistance between ground and suspect keypad button circuit at keyless entry control module 16-pin connector C235. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . See Figure . If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to step 15).
  14. Remove driver's door trim panel. Disconnect keypad connector. Measure resistance between ground and suspect keypad circuit at keypad connector. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, replace keypad. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, repair suspect circuit between keypad connector and keyless entry control module 16-pin connector C235.
  15. Measure resistance between keyless entry control module 16-pin connector C235 terminals No. 4 and 13 while pressing keypad 1/2 button. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open or shorted Brown or Light Blue/Yellow wire.
  16. Connect voltmeter between ground and keyless entry control module 16-pin connector C235 terminal No. 8. Connect a jumper wire between keyless entry control module 16-pin connector C235 terminal No. 4 and suspect keypad circuit at keyless entry control module 16-pin connector C235 while observing voltmeter. Wait at least 5 seconds between jumper connections. If voltage is greater than 5 volts for at least 5 seconds after each check, go to next step. If voltage is less than 5 volts for at least 5 seconds after each check, replace keyless entry control module.
  17. Disconnect keypad connector. Check for continuity between keypad terminal No. 5 and all other keypad terminals. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . Check for continuity between keypad terminal No. 4 and all other keypad terminals. Check for continuity between keypad terminals No. 3 and 6. Continuity should only be present between keypad terminals No. 3 and 6. If continuity is not present between all other keypad terminals, go to next step. If continuity is present between any other keypad terminals, replace keypad.
  18. Check for continuity between keypad terminals No. 5 and 2 with 1/2 button pressed. Check for continuity between keypad terminals No. 5 and 1 with 3/4 button pressed. Check for continuity between keypad terminals No. 5 and 8 with 5/6 button pressed. Check for continuity between keypad terminals No. 5 and 7 with 7/8 button pressed. Check for continuity between keypad terminals No. 5 and 4 with 9/0 button pressed. If continuity is not present at any check, replace keypad, and go to next step. If continuity is present at each check, repair open or short in suspect circuit between keypad and keyless entry control module.
  19. Disconnect keyless entry control module 16-pin connector C235, and 13-pin connector C254. Measure voltage between ground and keyless entry control module 16-pin connector C235 terminals No. 1 and 6. Measure voltage between ground and keyless entry control module 13-pin connector C254 terminals No. 10, 13, 14, 23 and 25. If voltage is 10 volts or greater at each terminal, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short in appropriate wire to instrument panel fuse box. If necessary, replace open fuse No. 11, 12, 29 or 37.
  20. Measure resistance between ground and keyless entry control module 13-pin connector C245 terminals No. 1 and 15. Measure resistance between ground and keyless entry control module 16-pin connector C235 terminal No. 5. If resistances are 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistances are greater than 5 ohms, repair open in suspect ground circuit.
