Test B: Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Has A Fault On The Tan/Orange And/Or Pink/Light Blue Wire
- Was fault code 0002 retrieved for the Tan/Orange wire. If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step 5 .
- Disconnect EATC connector C1, inspect terminal No. 14 and the wire connection to the terminal. Is terminal No. 14 and the wire connection okay? If yes, go to next step. If no, service the connector. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Inspect EATC connector terminal No. 14 on the module. Is the terminal okay? If yes, go to next step. If no, service pin. If pin cannot be repair, replace EATC module. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Measure resistance between DLC connector terminal No. 2 and EATC connector C1, terminal No. 14. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, replace EATC. See 1996 AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING SERVICE & REPAIR. Restore connections and run Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no, replace the Tan/Orange and Pink/Light Blue wires between the DLC and EATC connector C1. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Disconnect EATC connector C1. Inspect EATC connector terminal No. 13 and the wire connection to the pin. Is terminal No. 15 and the wire connection okay? If yes, go to next step. If no, service the connector. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- With EATC connector C1 disconnected, inspect terminal No. 13 on the module. Is the terminal okay? If yes, go to next step. If no, service terminal. If terminal can not be serviced, replace EATC module. See 1996 AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING SERVICE & REPAIR. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between DLC terminal No. 10 and EATS connector C1, terminal No. 13. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, replace EATC module. Restore connections and run Data Link Diagnostic Test. If no, replace the Tan/Orange and Pink/Light Blue wire between the DLC and EATC connector C1. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
