Power Seat Switch Test (Driver's Side)

NOTE: See WIRING DIAGRAMS  for power seat switch connector terminal and wire color identification.

Using ohmmeter, check continuity between indicated switch connector terminals when switch is activated as specified. See appropriate POWER SEAT SWITCH CONTINUITY table. Replace switch if it does not test as specified.

NOTE: For Explorer with power memory seat system, ensure terminal No. 2 is isolated from any other terminal while switch is in NEUTRAL position. No other testing of switch is available from manufacturer.
POWER SEAT SWITCH CONTINUITY

Switch Position Continuity Between Terminals No.
NEUTRAL (1) 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8
FRONT UP 1 & 2; 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8
FRONT DOWN 2 & 7; 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 8
UPWARD 1, 2 & 3; 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8
DOWNWARD 2, 7 & 8; 1, 3, 4, 5 & 6
FORWARD 2 & 6; 1, 3, 4, 5, 7 & 8
REARWARD 2 & 5; 1, 3, 4, 6, 7 & 8
REAR UP 2 & 3; 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8
REAR DOWN 2 & 8; 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7
(1) In NEUTRAL position, terminal No. 2 is disconnected.
