OBD-II Drive Cycle

NOTE: Perform this procedure only when instructed to do so.
  1. Start and drive vehicle for 6 minutes. Monitor ECT PID. See OBD-II PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION (PID). Drive vehicle until ECT PID reaches 0.6 volts (180°F) or greater. Operate engine at idle for 45 seconds. Accelerate to 45 MPH at 1/4 throttle.
  2. Drive vehicle between 30-40 MPH for one minute at steady throttle, then drive vehicle between 30-45 MPH for 4 minutes. If stop and go conditions occur, accumulated time must be within 20-45 MPH range. No Wide Open Throttle (WOT) conditions should occur.
  3. Decelerate and idle for 10 seconds. Accelerate to 55 MPH at 1/2 throttle. Drive vehicle between 40-60 MPH for 80 seconds at steady throttle. Decelerate and idle. With ignition on (vehicle idling or engine off), check for Continuous Memory codes.
