CAUTION: See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS article in the GENERAL INFORMATION section.
NOTE: For more information on brake system, see BRAKE SYSTEM article in the BRAKES section.

The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) allows the driver to stop in the shortest distance while maintaining steering control. During normal anti-lock operation a pulsation in brake pedal and a clicking sound will be sensed. System consists of a master cylinder/booster assembly, ABS control module, Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), electric pump/motor, brake on/off switch (also functions as brakelight switch), 4 wheel sensors and 2 warning lights (ANTI-LOCK and BRAKE). Vehicles with 3.8L engine are equipped with a diaphragm type power brake booster. Vehicles with 4.6L engine are equipped with a BENDIX(R) hydro-boost brake booster.
