Washer Inoperative
- Inspect hoses for blockage. Clean or replace hoses as necessary. If hoses are clear, check fluid level in reservoir. If reservoir contains sufficient fluid, go to next step. If fluid level is low, top off fluid as necessary and recheck washer operation.
- Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect WIPER fuse (20-amp) from instrument panel fuse block. If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is blown, replace fuse. Check washer operation. Recheck WIPER fuse. If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is blown, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect multifunction switch, wiper motor and instrument panel fuse block 10-pin connector. Measure resistance of Blue wire between ground and instrument panel fuse block 10-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, locate and repair short to ground in Blue wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, reinstall fuse and go to next step.
- Reconnect instrument panel fuse block 10-pin connector (if disconnected). Disconnect multifunction switch 14-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and Blue wire terminal at multifunction switch connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Blue wire.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect multifunction switch 14-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Connect a DVOM between ground and Blue/Orange wire at multifunction switch connector. Observe DVOM and depress washer switch. Note voltage reading. Release washer voltage and note voltage. If voltage is more than 10 volts with switch depressed and less than one volt with switch released, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace multifunction switch.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect washer pump connector. Measure resistance of Blue/Orange wire between multifunction switch connector and washer pump connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Blue/Orange wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and Blue/Orange wire at multifunction switch. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Blue/Orange wire.
- Measure resistance of Black wire between ground and washer pump connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace washer pump. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire.
