Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Record USER 1 and USER 2 preset radio frequencies and set clock.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.

WARNING: The electrical circuit necessary for system deployment is powered directly from the battery. To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the battery positive cable must be disconnected prior to servicing or replacing any system components.

3. Disconnect battery positive cable. Wait one minute for backup power supply energy to be depleted.
4. Remove utility compartment.

NOTE: Air bag diagnostic monitor is a blue box with two connectors.

5. Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor connectors.
6. Remove four screws retaining air bag diagnostic monitor and bracket to floor pan and A/C heater case bracket.






7. Remove air bag diagnostic monitor and bracket.

INSTALLATION

1. Install air bag diagnostic monitor and bracket. Install four screws retaining air bag diagnostic monitor and bracket to floor pan and A/C heater case bracket. Tighten screws to 10.2-13.8 Nm (70.8-122.1 lb in).
2. Connect air bag diagnostic monitor connectors.
3. Install utility compartment.
4. Connect battery positive cable.
5. Connect battery ground cable.
6. Reprogram USER 1 and USER 2 preset radio frequencies and set clock.
