Pinpoint Test A - Windshield Washer Inoperative

  1. Check washer reservoir fluid level. Top off fluid as necessary. If fluid level is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Operate washer switch. If washer pump is inoperative, go to step 6). If washer pump operates but fluid does not squirt from nozzles, inspect pump, nozzles, and hoses for blockage. Repair as necessary.
  3. Turn ignition on. Disconnect washer pump connector. Operate washer switch and measure voltage between ground and Black/White wire at washer pump connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 5).
  4. Turn ignition off. Check continuity between ground and Black wire at washer pump connector. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire. If continuity exists, replace washer pump.
  5. Turn ignition on. Check wiper operation. If wipers operate, go to next step. If wipers are inoperative, go to PINPOINT TEST B  .
  6. Disconnect Wiper Control Module (WCM). WCM is located behind instrument panel, to left of steering column. Press and hold washer switch. Check continuity between Brown/White wire and Dark Blue/White wire at WCM connector. If continuity exists, go to step 8). If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect multifunction switch 7-pin connector. Operate washer switch and check for continuity between Brown/White wire and Dark Blue/White wire at multifunction switch connector. If continuity exists, repair open in Brown/White wire and Dark Blue/White wire between WCM and multifunction switch connector. If continuity does not exist, replace multifunction switch.
  8. Check continuity of Black/White wire between washer pump connector and ECM connector. If continuity exists, replace WCM. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black/White wire.
