Improper Forward/Backward Operation

  1. Operation Check  - Disconnect seat motor connector. Connect a jumper wire to battery voltage. Connect a second jumper wire to ground. Connect jumper leads to pins No. 1 and 4. See Figure . Observe motor operation. Reverse leads. Seat should move in opposite direction. If seat does not operate as specified, replace motor assembly. If seat operates correctly, go to next step.
    NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with separate front power seats, repeat operation check procedure on passenger's seat.
  2. Circuit Check  - Using a test light, probe pins No. 1 and 4 of power seat motor connector while actuating power seat switch for forward and rearward operation. See Figure . If test light comes on, circuits are okay. Check connectors for damage and poor connections. Repair as necessary. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit(s) as necessary. Retest system.
