No Communication With Lighting Control Module

  1. Disconnect Lighting Control Module (LCM) connector C2029/C222 located behind left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Measure voltage between ground and LCM connector C2029/C222, terminal No. 6 (Tan/White wire). If battery voltage is present, go to step 5). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  2. Remove 15-amp fuse No. 4 (fuse No. 15 on Town Car) located in underdash fuse panel. Measure resistance between ground and LCM connector C2029/C222, terminal No. 6 (Tan/White wire). If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/White wire. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step.
  3. Measure voltage between ground and fuse No. 4 (fuse No. 15 on Town Car) input cavity. If battery voltage is present, goto next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair power supply to fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Measure resistance between fuse No. 4 (fuse No. 15 on Town Car) output cavity and LCM connector C2029/C222, terminal No. 6 (Tan/White wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace fuse, reconnect all components and retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/White wire.
  5. Measure voltage between ground and LCM connector C2029/C222, terminal No. 11 (Light Green/Yellow wire). If battery voltage is present, go to step 9). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  6. Remove 15-amp fuse No. 8 (fuse No. 4 on Town Car) located in underdash fuse panel. Measure resistance between ground and LCM connector C2029/C222, terminal No. 11 (Light Green/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step.
  7. Measure voltage between ground and fuse No. 8 input cavity. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair power supply to fuse No. 8 (fuse No. 4 on Town Car). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  8. Measure resistance of Light Green/Yellow wire between fuse No. 8 (fuse No. 4 on Town Car) output cavity and LCM connector C2029/C222, terminal 11. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace fuse No. 8 (fuse No. 4 on Town Car), restore vehicle and retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Green/Yellow wire, then retest system.
  9. Measure resistance between ground and LCM connector C2029/C222, terminal No. 9 (Black wire on Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis or Pink/Orange wire on Town Car). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article to continue diagnosis.

If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire (Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis) or Pink/Orange wire (Town Car) between LCM connector and ground.
