Testing Procedure

ANTI-LOCK and BRAKE warning lights alert vehicle operator of problems in braking system. Red BRAKE warning light monitors master cylinder fluid level and parking brake lever status. Amber ANTI-LOCK warning light alerts vehicle operator to problems in ABS system.

When trouble shooting ABS system, use the test procedures in the order in which they are presented. Using other than recommended procedure could result in wasted time and/or unnecessary replacement of parts.

Testing sequence should be as follows: PRETEST CHECKS  , ON-BOARD SELF-TESTS  using ON-BOARD SELF-TEST DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX table, and TEST A  through TEST L. If symptoms are present but codes cannot be retrieved, perform ABS QUICK CHECK and ABS SYMPTOM CHECK. See Figure and Figure .
