Without New Generation Star (NGS) Scan Tester

  1. Entire procedure takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Procedure must be followed precisely or procedure will be stopped and then must be started again.
  2. Install an unprogrammed ignition key in ignition switch and place ignition switch in the RUN position. Anti-theft indicator light will begin flashing and continue to flash for 15 minutes and then turn off. Anti-theft indicator light is located on indicator light module at center of instrument panel. Ensure ignition switch remains in RUN position for the full 15 minutes.
  3. Within 5 minutes after anti-theft indicator light has turned off, turn ignition switch to OFF position for one second, then back to RUN position. Anti-theft indicator light will resume flashing for another 15 minutes and then turn off. Ensure ignition switch remains in RUN position for the full 15 minutes.
  4. Within 5 minutes after anti-theft indicator light has turned off, turn ignition switch to OFF position for one second, then back to RUN position. Anti-theft indicator light will resume flashing for another 15 minutes and then turn off. Ensure ignition switch remains in RUN position for the full 15 minutes.
  5. Within 5 minutes after anti-theft indicator light has turned off, turn ignition switch to OFF position for one second, then back to RUN position. The SCIL module will have erased previous stored ignition key codes and the NEW coded ignition key will start the vehicle.
