Test D: Alarm System Will Not Arm Using Door Lock Switch

- Using scan tester, perform On-Demand Self-Test on Steering Column/Ignition/Lighting (SCIL) module. If DTCs U1197, U1199 or U1222 exist, go to DTC TESTS in ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM - PASSIVE article. If DTCs U1197, U1199 or U1222 do not exist, go to next step.
- Lock and unlock all doors using door lock switch for power door locks on driver's door. If door locks operate properly, go to next step. If door locks do not operate properly, go to appropriate KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM - REMOTE article for diagnosis of door locks.
- Turn ignition on. Ensure all doors are fully closed. Turn ignition off. Open driver's door and note operation of anti-theft indicator light. Anti-theft indicator light is located on indicator light module at center of instrument panel. If anti-theft indicator light flashes, go to next step. If anti-theft indicator light does not flash, perform TEST B .
- Ensure all doors are fully closed. Turn ignition on and then turn ignition off. Open driver's door. Lock doors by using door lock switch for power door locks on driver's door. Close driver's door and note operation of anti-theft indicator light.
- If anti-theft indicator light stays on for 30 seconds and then goes off, anti-theft alarm system is operating properly at this time. If anti-theft indicator light does not stay on for 30 seconds and then go off, replace Driver's Door Module (DDM). The DDM is located inside driver's door and contains a 4-pin connector, 16-pin connector and a 22-pin connector. Retest system operation. If anti-theft alarm system is still inoperative, replace SCIL module. Retest system operation.
