Removal & Installation: CLOCKSPRING: Installation

- Make sure that vehicle's front wheels are in the straight-ahead position and steering shaft alignment mark is at the 12 o'clock position.NOTE: Service replacement clockspring will contain a Red plastic locking insert to prevent rotation. DO NOT remove insert until clockspring is securely installed on column.
- Align air bag sliding contact to steering gear input worm gear and rack and mounting bosses and slide air bag sliding contact on to the steering column shaft assembly. Install three retaining screws and tighten to specifications. Remove tape strips. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Route air bag contact wires down steering column and connect to wire harness. Install ignition key warning switch terminal and wire into steering column tube flange. Connect main wiring connectors down steering column.
- Install lower steering column shroud and instrument panel steering column cover. Install ignition lock cylinder. Install steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect battery ground cable. Prove out air bag system using SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
