Alternate Programming Method

This method can be used if NGS tester is not available. Entire procedure takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Procedure must be followed precisely or system will abort and procedure will need to be started again. Insert unprogrammed encoded key into ignition lock and turn switch to RUN position. THEFT indicator light will begin flashing. After 15 minutes of flashing, THEFT indicator will go out.

Within 5 minutes after THEFT light has gone out, turn ignition switch to OFF position for one second, then back to RUN. THEFT indicator will resume flashing for another 15 minutes. This procedure must be repeated once more for a total of 3 times (45 minutes). After third time PATS module will erase all stored key codes and memorize unprogrammed key as valid. This key can now be used to start vehicle. See SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING  to enter any additional keys into memory.
