Single Power Window Inoperative
- Determine Inoperative Window
Turn ignition on. Operate all power window switches in all positions. Remove power window switch for inoperative window, and go to next step. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Check Power Supply To Switch
Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage at Red/Light Blue wire at power window switch connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open Red/Light Blue wire.
- Check Switch Ground Circuits
Measure resistance between Black wire(s) at power window switch connector and ground. If all resistance measurements are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance measurement is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black wire(s). Retest system.
- Check Circuits Between Left & Right Doors
Remove and disconnect driver's side right power window switch. Remove and disconnect passenger's side right power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for continuity in Tan/Light Blue and White/Yellow wires between driver's right power window switch and passenger's power window switch. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open Tan/Light Blue or White/Yellow wire.
- Test Switch For Inoperative Window
Remove and disconnect power window switch for inoperative window. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTING. If power window switch does not test as specified, replace switch. Retest system. If power window switch is okay, go to next step.
- Check Motor Circuits
Remove and disconnect power window switch and power window motor connectors at inoperative power window. Check for continuity in White/Black and Yellow wires between power window switch and power window motor. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open White/Black or Yellow wire.
- Power Window Motor Test
Unplug power window motor connector from inoperative power window. Using 2 jumper wires, connect battery power and ground to power window motor. Motor should operate. Reverse polarity to reverse motor direction. If motor operates correctly, check window tracks and mechanisms for damage. If motor does not operate correctly, replace power window motor. Retest system.
