CMP Synchronizer: Installation

- Install Synchro Positioner (T96T-12200-A) on synchronizer housing (CMP sensor removed). See Fig 1. Rotate synchronizer shaft until vane on shaft aligns with slot on synchro positioner. Rotate synchro positioner until engaged into notch in housing. Dip drive gear in engine oil.
- Install intermediate shaft in synchronizer assembly. Locate sychronizer in engine so that when sychronizer is fully installed, the sychro positioner points 54 degrees off crankshaft centerline. See Fig 2.
- Install hold-down clamp and tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . If synchro positioner is not pointing to correct position, remove synchronizer and start again from step 1). If installed correctly, remove synchro positioner.
- Install CMP sensor and tighten screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect CMP sensor harness connector and negative battery cable.
