CMP Synchronizer: Installation

  1. Install Synchro Positioner (T96T-12200-A) on synchronizer assembly (CMP sensor removed). See Fig 1. Turn synchronizer shaft clockwise until tool boss engages with notch in synchronizer housing. Tool should fit squarely in top of synchronizer housing.
  2. Install intermediate shaft in synchronizer assembly. Locate sychronizer in engine so that when sychronizer is fully installed, the sychro positioner points 38 degrees off crankshaft centerline. See Fig 2.
  3. Install and tighten hold-down clamp. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . If synchro positioner is not pointing to correct position, remove synchronizer and start again from step 1). If installed correctly, remove synchro positioner.
  4. Install CMP sensor and tighten screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect CMP sensor harness connector and negative battery cable.
