Test D: Improper Forward/Backward Operation

  1. Operation Test  - Disconnect seat motor harness connector. Connect fused jumper wire to positive battery voltage. Connect a second jumper wire to ground. Connect jumper leads to Red/White wire and Yellow/White wire of seat motor terminals. Observe motor operation. Reverse leads. Motor should operate in both directions. If motor operates correctly, go to next step. If motor does not operate as specified, replace driver seat motor assembly.
  2. Test For Open  - Disconnect seat switch harness connector. Measure resistance in Yellow/White and Red/White wires between seat switch and seat motor harness connectors. If both resistance readings are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If either resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in appropriate wire.
  3. Test For Short  - Measure resistance between ground and Yellow/White and Red/White wires at seat switch harness connector. If both resistance readings are 10,000 ohms or greater, replace seat motor assembly. If either resistance reading is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire.
