Test F: AUTOLOCK Does Not Work Properly

  1. Attempt Normal Autolock/Relock Operation  - Perform autolock/relock sequence for normal operation. See DESCRIPTION & OPERATION  . If there is proper response, autolock is okay. Return to SYMPTOM CHART  . If there was improper response for lock or relock function, to next step.
  2. Confirm Autolock Is Enabled  - Perform autolock enable/disable sequence. See DESCRIPTION & OPERATION  . As sequence is performed for first time, horn should chirp once, followed by longer honk. If horn responds as indicated, repeat step 1), as a feature has just been re-enabled. If horn chirps but with no longer honk, enable autolock feature. If horn chirps along with longer honk, go to next step.
  3. Check Stoplight Switch Input  - Select RAP module PID BOO_RAP to monitor brake on/off switch. PID BOO_RAP should read OFF. Press brake pedal. PID BOO_RAP should read ON. If readouts are as indicates, go to step 7). If readouts are not as indicated, go to next step.
  4. Check NGS Tester Display  - If PID BOO_RAP always reads ON, diagnose and repair stoplight circuit. Restore and retest system. If PID BOO_RAP does not always read ON, go to next step.
  5. Check Stoplight Switch Operation  - Disconnect RAP module connector. With a voltmeter, measure voltage at Light Green wire terminal of RAP module connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace RAP module. Restore and retest system. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  6. Check Stoplight Operation  - Press brake pedal and hold. If stoplamps come on, repair open in Light Green wire circuit. Restore and retest system. If stoplamps do not come on, diagnose and repair stoplamps and/or circuit. Restore and retest system.
  7. Check Door Ajar Input  - Select RAP module PID DOORRAP. Close all doors, liftgate and liftgate glass. RAP module PID DOORRAP should read CLOSED. Open any door. RAP module PID DOORRAP should read AJAR. If readings are as indicated, go to step 11). If readings are not as indicated, go to next step.
  8. Check NGS Tester Door Ajar Display  - If RAP module PID DOORRAP always reads AJAR, go to next step. If it does not always read AJAR, go to step 11).
  9. Check Orange/White Wire Circuit For Short  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect RAP module connector. Disconnect GEM connector C233. With an ohmmeter, measure resistance of Orange/White wire circuit between RAP module connector and ground. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short in Orange/White wire circuit. Restore and retest system. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step.
  10. Check GEM For DTCs  - Connect GEM connector C233. Leave RAP module connector disconnected. Turn ignition to run position (engine off). Retrieve DTCs from GEM. If DTCs B1322, B1330 or B1334 are retrieved, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If these DTCs are not retrieved, replace RAP module. Restore and retest system.
  11. Check Ignition Input  - Select PID IGN_RAP from RAP module list. Turn ignition off. PID IGN_RAP should read OFF. Turn ignition switch to RUN position (engine off). Resume communication if necessary to select PID IGN_RAP. Display should read RUN/ACC. If both PID displays are as indicated, replace RAP module. Restore and retest system. If displays are not as indicated, go to next step.
  12. Check PID IGN_RAP RUN/ACC State  - If PID IGN_RAP always reads RUN/ACC, go to next step. If it does not always read RUN/ACC, go to step 14).
  13. Check Yellow/Black Wire Circuit For Short  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect RAP module connector. Measure voltage at Yellow/Black wire terminal of RAP module connector. If voltage is more than 5 volts, repair short in Yellow/Black wire circuit. Restore and retest system. If voltage is less than 5 volts, replace RAP module. Restore and retest system.
  14. Check Yellow/Black Wire Circuit For Open  - Turn ignition switch to RUN position (engine off). Measure voltage at Yellow/Black wire terminal of RAP module connector. If battery voltage is present, replace RAP module. Restore and retest system. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Yellow/Black wire circuit. Restore and retest system.
