Test E: Generic Electronic Module (Gem) Does Not Respond To NGS Tester

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect GEM Black 23-pin connector C233 located behind instrument panel left of steering column. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 12 at GEM connector C233 and terminal No. 7 at DLC. See Figure and Fig 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Light Blue/White wire between GEM connector and DLC. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  2. Inspect GEM connector C233 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace GEM. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
