Test F: Diagnostic Air Bag Module Does Not Respond To NGS Tester

  1. Turn ignition off. Deactivate air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor Black connector C231 located behind left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 12 at air bag diagnostic monitor connector C231 and terminal No. 7 at DLC. See Figure and Fig 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Light Blue/White wire between air bag diagnostic monitor connector and DLC. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  2. Inspect air bag diagnostic monitor connector C231 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace air bag diagnostic monitor. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
