(1) Using NGS tester, retrieve and document continuous DTCs. Clear all DTCs. Perform GEM/CTM self-test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved again, replace GEM/CTM.
(2) Repair power seat system as necessary. See POWER SEATS - EXPLORER & MOUNTAINEER article.
(3) Check charging system and repair as necessary. See appropriate GENERATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If charging system is okay, repair wiring as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.

(1) Vehicles equipped with 4WD and/or power windows are equipped with a GEM. All other vehicle are equipped with a CTM.
(2) This code only applies to vehicles equipped with a GEM.
(3) Perform TEST A: ALL POWER WINDOWS ARE INOPERATIVE in appropriate POWER WINDOWS article for testing procedures.
(4) Check charging system. See appropriate GENERATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. Repair as necessary. If charging system is okay, fault is in power or ground circuits to GEM/CTM. See appropriate wiring diagram in BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
(5) This DTC may also be present from GEM/CTM wiggle test.
(6) Check wiring harness for open and/or short circuits and repair as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
(7) Perform appropriate test under SYSTEM TESTS in ANALOG INSTRUMENT CLUSTER - EXPLORER & MOUNTAINEER article.
(8) Check wiring harness for open and/or short circuits and repair as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in WARNING SYSTEMS article.
(9) Clear DTCs. Retrieve DTCs. If DTC B1342 is retrieved, replace GEM/CTM and retest system operation.
(10) Check wiring harness for open and/or short circuits and repair as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in REAR WINDOW DEFOGGERS article.
(11) See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article for testing procedures.
(12) See appropriate POWER WINDOWS article for testing procedures.
(13) See appropriate WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article for testing procedures.
(14) See appropriate ELECTRONIC CONTROLS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS for testing procedures.
(15) Check wiring harness for open and/or short circuits and repair as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS article.
(16) Vehicle speed calibration data is not programmed into GEM/CTM. Use NGS tester configuration card help screen to program tire size and axle ratio. Retest system operation. If DTC B2141 is still present, replace GEM/CTM and retest system operation.

(3) Repair Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS). See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
(4) Using NGS tester, perform calibration procedure. Repeat self-test.
