Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTE: If instructed to retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from a specified test procedure, ensure ignition is in proper position as indicated in test procedure or the test will fail.

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (49-T088-0A0) to Data Link Connector (DLC) and perform proper hookup procedure. See EQUIPMENT HOOKUP .
Turn ignition switch to ON position, unless otherwise instructed by test procedure. Rotate dial on NGS tester to select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK menu and press trigger.
Rotate dial on NGS tester to highlight the desired module you wish to access. Ensure DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE is highlighted and press trigger.
Rotate dial on NGS tester to highlight RETRIEVE/CLEAR CONTINUOUS DTC and press trigger. Press button No. 7 to initiate procedure.
Record all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) that are displayed for specified module. See GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM) DTC IDENTIFICATION or REMOTE ANTI-THEFT PERSONALITY (RAP) MODULE DTC IDENTIFICATION table and proper DTC testing procedure.
If NGS tester indicates SYSTEM PASSED (NO DTC'S AVAILABLE), press CANCEL and go to ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST .
