Component Replacement Disabling Procedure

  1. Record pre-set radio frequencies for reprogramming, if equipped. Disconnect battery(s). Wait at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete stored energy.
  2. Remove lower steering column finish panel and reinforcement. Disconnect lower clockspring harness connector. Connect Air Bag Simulator (418-F088/105-R0012) to vehicle harness side of connector. See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
  3. On models equipped with passenger-side air bag, remove right-side lower instrument panel finish panel, reinforcement and reinforcement bracket. Looking up between interior engine cover and air bag module, locate and disconnect passenger-side air bag module harness connector. Connect Air Bag Simulator (418-F088/105-R0012) to harness side of connector. On all models, reconnect battery(s).
  4. With air bag simulators attached to all deployable devices, perform system operation check. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Disconnect battery(s). Wait at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete stored energy.
