Symptom Chart

SYMPTOM CHART

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • Loss of coolant
  • Radiator.
  • Coolant pump seal.
  • Radiator hoses.
  • Heater hoses.
  • Heater core.
  • Engine gaskets.
  • Radiator degas bottle.
  • The engine overheats
  • Thermostat.
  • Coolant pump.
  • Internal engine coolant leak.
  • Radiator.
  • Radiator airflow obstruction.
  • Fan/fan clutch.
  • Pressure relief cap.
  • Airlock in the system.
  • Coolant condition/concentration.
  • The engine does not reach normal operating temperature
  • Thermostat.
  • The block heater does not operate correctly
  • Block heater power cable.
  • Block heater.
  • CHECK continuity in all 3 power cable circuits. If any circuit tests over 5 ohms, INSTALL a new power cable.
  • INSTALL a new block heater. REFER to BLOCK HEATER .
