Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Keypad

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2006 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2006 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The RKE keypad is located on the exterior of the driver door and provides a method for the customer to access the vehicle without a key or RKE transmitter. The RKE keypad feature:

The RKE keypad feature operates independently of ignition status, vehicle speed, or transmission position. When an RKE keypad button is pressed, the RKE keypad buttons illuminate to provide better visibility. If LOCK ALL DOORS is entered or 5 seconds has elapsed since the last button press, the illumination is turned off.

Each vehicle equipped with an RKE keypad is programmed with a 5-digit entry code. This code is provided to the customer through a wallet card in the Owner Literature package. In addition, this code is available through a diagnostic tool and is also printed on the vehicle security module label. When entering codes each digit must be entered within 5 seconds of the previous button press.
