NOTE:
Do not turn the steering wheel during the fluid level inspection, or the fluid level changes and cannot be inspected correctly.
- Check the power steering fluid level and add fluid as necessary.
- Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on safety stands. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Slowly turn the steering wheel fully to the left and right several times with the engine not running (minimum 10 times in each direction).
- Check the power steering fluid level and add fluid as necessary.
- Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until the fluid level stabilizes.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Start the engine and let it idle.
- Slowly turn the steering wheel fully to the left and right several times (minimum 10 times in each direction).
- Verify that the power steering fluid is not foamy and that the fluid level has not dropped.
CAUTION:
Do not hold the steering wheel against the stops for an extended amount of time. Damage to the power steering pump can occur.
