Section 197 (Overhead Console (Message Center)): Self-Diagnostics
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Navigator and 2002 Ford Expedition. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
All vehicle doors must be closed and the engine must be running during message center self-test.
To enter message center self-test, press the E/M and MODE buttons at the same time while starting the vehicle. Release both buttons once the vehicle is running. To move through available tests, press MODE button until desired test is reached. See MESSAGE CENTER SELF TEST INDEX table for message center self-test results. To end message center self-test, turn ignition switch to OFF position. If message center self-test is okay, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
