Powertrain Control Module (PCM): Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
- Retrieve the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration retrieval steps of the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) procedure. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION -- FUSION MILAN & MKZ article.
- Remove the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ .
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum brake booster.
- Disconnect the 3 PCM electrical connectors.
- Remove the ground strap bolt and disconnect the ground strap retainer.
- Remove the two LH splash shield pin-type retainers and position the LH splash shield aside.
- Remove the lower PCM bolt and the upper PCM bracket bolt.
- Remove the PCM.
- Remove the upper PCM bolt and the PCM bracket from the PCM.
