Cable/Bracket Adjustment - Shift Indicator Cable

- Remove the upper instrument panel steering column cover (04459); refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL & CONSOLE .
- Place the gearshift lever in the P position.
- Rotate the gearshift lever clock wise until it bottoms out (first gear), then rotate two detents counterclockwise (P position).
- Hang the 1.4 kg (3 lb) weight on the gearshift lever.
- Center the pointer in the middle of the P position.
- Rotate the thumbwheel located on the bottom of the steering column to adjust the pointer.
- Remove the 1.4 kg (3 lb) weight.
- Carefully move the gearshift lever from detent and compare with the transmission settings.
- Readjust if necessary.
- Install the upper instrument panel steering column cover; refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL & CONSOLE .
