Inspection And Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern by operating the electronic door lock control system.
  2. Visually inspect the following for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage:
    VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Binding linkage or latches
    • Door lock cylinder
    • Misaligned door
    • Central junction box (CJB) fuse B11 (7.5A)
    • Battery junction box (BJB) fuse:
      • C3 (50A)
      • B24 (15A)
      • B10 (30A)
    • Circuitry
    • Keyless entry keypad
    • Keyless entry remote transmitter
    • Central security module
    • Generic electronic module (GEM)
  3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  4. If the concern remains after the inspection connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  5. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool manual.
  6. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
  7. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the CENTRAL SECURITY MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX .
  8. If DTCs are retrieved that are not found in the following central security module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index, refer to the DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
  9. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to the SYMPTOM CHART .
