The PCM will determine if conditions are appropriate for A/C compressor operation based on inputs to the PCM from various sensors (vehicle speed, engine speed, throttle position, engine coolant temperature, power steering pressure, etc.). These inputs are dependent on vehicle equipment and PCM programming.
