WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Ford RV Cutaway, 2005 Ford Econoline, 2005 Ford E450 Super Duty, and 2005 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
The tightening torque of the air bag restraints control module (RCM) bracket retaining nuts is critical for correct system operation.
NOTE:
Inspect the RCM bracket bolts for corrosion before securing the RCM and bracket assembly to the vehicle.
- Install the RCM and bracket assembly and tighten the bolts to specification.
- Place the connector position assurance lever in the full release position before attempting to connect the connector.
- With the large RCM electrical connector uniformly aligned, lightly push in until a subtle audible click is heard and slight resistance is felt.
- Push the large electrical connector position assurance lever until the retainer engages and locks into place.
- Align the small RCM electrical connector and push in until the connector is fully seated into the RCM.
- Align and install the RCM cover.
- Install the driver seat. For additional information, refer to SEATING .
- Repower the system. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING .
CAUTION:
Putting the large RCM electrical connector into the RCM on an angle can cause bad electrical connections and damaged components.
CAUTION:
Do not push the connector onto where the lever pivots and seats itself. Light pressure is needed to get the connector into position on the RCM before using the lever to fully seat the connector.
