Test B: System Overcharges

  1. Disconnect generator 3-pin electrical connector. Measure voltage drop by connecting positive lead to generator connector terminal "A" and negative lead to positive battery terminal. If voltage drop is less than .5 volts, go to next step. If voltage drop is greater than .5 volts, repair high resistance in Orange/Light Blue wire between generator and Brown fusible link "C". Retest system operation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Inspect generator and regulator grounds (mounting surfaces and fasteners). Inspect battery ground. Repair as necessary and retest system operation. If all grounds are okay, replace voltage regulator. See VOLTAGE REGULATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation.
