Test C: Power Door Locks Inoperative Using RKE Transmitter

NOTE: To avoid setting false codes, disconnect battery power and ground before disconnecting GEM harness connectors. PID functions may not be indicated in scan tool PID list. PID functions may be located in function test for TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA. When test is activated, use keyfob buttons to obtain results.
  1. Lock and unlock doors using driver's door lock switch. If all doors lock and unlock correctly, go to next step. If all doors do not lock and unlock correctly, perform TEST B: ALL POWER DOOR LOCKS INOPERATIVE .
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Following manufacturers instructions enter PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD. Monitor GEM PIS IGN_KEY, IGN_A, IGN_S and IGN_R while cycling ignition switch through OFF, ACC, RUN, START and key out positions. If PID values agree with ignition switch positions, go to next step. If PID values do not agree with ignition positions, see WARNING SYSTEMS article.
  3. Remove ignition key from ignition switch. Monitor GEM FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while depressing lock and unlock buttons on RKE transmitter. If LAST DATA RECEIVED matches button depressed on RKE transmitter, replace GEM. If LAST DATA RECEIVED does not match button depressed on RKE transmitter, go to next step.
  4. Install NEW batteries in RKE transmitter. Monitor GEM FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA. Depress lock and unlock button on RKE transmitter. If LAST DATA RECEIVED matches button depressed on RKE transmitter, system is okay. Clear DTCs and repeat self-test. If LAST DATA RECEIVED does not match button depressed on RKE transmitter, go to next step.
  5. Reprogram all RKE transmitter(s). See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING . Monitor GEM FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while depressing lock and unlock buttons on RKE transmitter. If LAST DATA RECEIVED matches buttons depressed on RKE transmitter, system is okay. Clear DTCs and repeat self-test. If LAST DATA RECEIVED does not match buttons depressed on RKE transmitter, go to next step.
  6. Program a NEW RKE transmitter. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING . Clear all DTCs. Repeat self-test. If problem still exists, replace GEM.
