Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: It is necessary to upload module configuration oft remote anti-theft personality/central security module (RAP/CSM) to New Generation STAR (NGS) tester, or equivalent scan tool, prior to module replacement. After new module is installed download configuration to new module.
NOTE: Failure to disconnect remote anti-theft personality/central security module (RAP/CSM) harness connectors in specified order, will cause a false PID and possible diagnostic trouble code. Ensure to disconnect harness connector C257 then C256. When connecting RAP/CSM, ensure to connect C256 then C257.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove left front door sill plate. Remove left side kick panel trim. Disconnect remote anti-theft personality/central security module (RAP/CSM) harness connector C257 then C256. RAP/CSM is located behind left side of instrument panel. Disconnect wiring harness connectors (Black 22-pin and Black 26-pin). Remove nuts and RAP/CSM. To install, reverse removal procedure.
