Restraints Control Module (RCM): Removal

  1. RCM is mounted on center tunnel below climate control assembly. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Record preset radio frequencies for reprogramming. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Leave negative battery cable disconnected.
  2. Position carpet back at right side of instrument panel center support bracket. Remove RCM bracket retaining bolt. Position carpet back at left side of instrument panel center support bracket. Disconnect RCM connector locking clip. Disconnect RCM electrical connector. Remove 2 RCM retaining bolts and remove RCM with bracket.
CAUTION: Improper air bag system operation is possible. RCM mounting bolts that are not properly tightened may result in air bag system malfunction. Ensure RCM mounting bolts are tightened to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
