DTC C1155: Left Front Wheel Speed Input Circuit Failure Or DTC C1233: Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Missing/Fault (1998 Models): Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Ford Mustang and 1998 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 30-pin ABS control module connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ABS control module connector terminals No. 20 (Tan/Orange wire) and No. 21 (Tan/Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is 1280-1920 ohms, go to step  4. If resistance is not 1280-1920 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect left front sensor connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between ABS control module connector terminal No. 20 and left front sensor connector terminal. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Also, measure resistance of Tan/Black wire between ABS control module connector terminal No. 21 and left front sensor connector terminal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms on both measurements, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms on either measurement, repair Tan/Orange wire or Tan/Black wire between ABS control module and left front sensor.
  3. Check for short in twisted pair in left front sensor circuitry. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ABS control module connector terminals No. 20 (Tan/Orange wire) and No. 21 (Tan/Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, go to step  6. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair Tan/Orange wire or Tan/Black wire between ABS control module and left front sensor.
  4. Check for short to ground in left front sensor circuitry. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ABS control module connector terminal No. 20 (Tan/Orange wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, go to step  6. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect left front sensor connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ABS control module connector terminal No. 20 (Tan/Orange wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Also, measure resistance between ABS control module connector terminal No. 21 (Tan/Black wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms on both measurements, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms on either measurement, repair Tan/Orange wire or Tan/Black wire between ABS control module and left front sensor.
  6. Turn ignition off. Raise and support vehicle enough so drive wheels are free to spin. Place gear selector in Neutral. Place DVOM in AC volt scale. Set scan tool to measure frequency. Voltage and frequency measurements must be measured simultaneously. While spinning left front wheel at a constant speed, measure voltage using DVOM, and frequency using scan tool connected between ABS control module connector terminals No. 20 (Tan/Orange wire) and No. 21 (Tan/Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Determine sensor output in millivolts/hertz. Output equals AC voltage/frequency.
