Test K: No Communication With Generic Electronic Module (Gem)
- Remove fuse No. 216 (15-amp) in central junction box. Turn ignition to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and input terminal for fuse No. 216 (15-amp). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in central junction box. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Install fuse No. 216 in central junction box. Disconnect GEM harness connector C201a. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (White/Red wire) at GEM harness connector C201a. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in White/Red wire between GEM and fuse No. 216 (15-amp) terminal No. 15 at central junction box harness connector C270a. See Figure .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 6 (Black/Light Green wire) at GEM harness connector C201a. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, refer to appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS article. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire between GEM and ground G108. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS .
