Test K: No Communication With Generic Electronic Module (Gem)

  1. Remove fuse No. 216 (15-amp) in central junction box. Turn ignition to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and input terminal for fuse No. 216 (15-amp). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in central junction box. Clear DTCs and retest.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Install fuse No. 216 in central junction box. Disconnect GEM harness connector C201a. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (White/Red wire) at GEM harness connector C201a. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in White/Red wire between GEM and fuse No. 216 (15-amp) terminal No. 15 at central junction box harness connector C270a. See Figure .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 6 (Black/Light Green wire) at GEM harness connector C201a. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, refer to appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS article. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire between GEM and ground G108. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  .
