Description & Operation: Notes

Power door lock system consists of power door lock switches, door lock actuators, Generic Electronic Module (GEM) and necessary wiring. Switches are located in front door trim panels. To lock all doors, press power door lock switch on either door to lock position. To unlock all doors, press switch to unlock position.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) consists of power door lock system, Generic Electronic Module (GEM) and up to 4 remote transmitters. Transmitters allow the driver to lock, unlock, and open the luggage compartment lid when engine is off and vehicle is not in gear. If RKE transmitter UNLOCK button is pressed once and GEM detects a valid transmission, anti-theft is disarmed (if equipped), driver's door only will unlock and will turn on illuminated entry lights. If RKE transmitter UNLOCK button is depressed a second time within 3 seconds, all doors will unlock. All doors will lock and anti-theft will activate if RKE transmitter LOCK button is depressed. If RKE transmitter LOCK button is depressed a second time within 3 seconds, all doors will lock again, horn will beep and parking lights will flash to indicate doors are locked. If GEM detects a door ajar, a signal to lock doors is again sent and horn is sounded twice.

Depressing RKE transmitter luggage compartment button will release luggage compartment lid lock or liftgate (wagon). Depressing RKE transmitter PANIC button will sound vehicle alarm and GEM will illuminate courtesy lights, flash parking lights and beep horn several times. Panic alarm can be turned of by depressing PANIC button again, depressing RKE transmitter UNLOCK button, will automatically deactivate after 2.75 minutes or by inserting ignition key and turning ignition switch to ACC or RUN positions.

Luggage compartment lid release switch is located on dash, above parking brake release lever. Pressing luggage compartment lid release switch provides power to luggage compartment lid release solenoid which releases luggage compartment lid latch.
