Key Programming - Using Service Card To Add Extra Keys Or Reprogram If All Keys Are Lost
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
This procedure has been updated to include information from Ford factory TSB 99-26-6.
- To add an extra key, insert an unprogrammed encoded PATS key in ignition. Insert Ford Service Function (FSF) card VERSION 5.0 or higher into New Generation Star (NGS) or Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester. Select SERVICE BAY FUNCTIONS then PATS. Enter SECURITY ACCESS which results in a 10 minute delay.
- Select IGNITION KEY CODE PROGRAM SELECT. Turn ignition key to run and repeat with all keys to be programmed. Select CANCEL 1 time to return to menu selections. Disconnect NGS/WDS tester and wait 10 seconds. Cycle all new keys in ignition and verify vehicle starts.
- If all encoded ignition keys are lost, start with 2 new keys with mechanical cuts matching lock cylinder. Insert Ford Service Function (FSF) card VERSION 5.0 or higher into New Generation Star (NGS) or Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester. Follow ERASE IGNITION KEY procedure.
