Cruise Control Systems: Operation
Speed control system is activated when ON button is pressed and SET/ACCEL button is pressed. Vehicle will maintain speed until new speed is set, brake pedal is depressed or OFF button is pressed. To decrease from a set speed, COAST button can be pressed and held until desired reduced speed is reached or, momentarily tapping COAST button for one MPH deceleration increments. If system has been deactivated by process other than pressing OFF button, set speed can be regained by pressing and releasing RESUME button.
Under normal braking conditions, when brake pedal is depressed, a signal from stoplight switch to servo deactivates operation. Speed control brake pressure switch provides an additional safety feature. Under increased brake pedal effort, brake pressure switch will open and eliminate power to servo, releasing throttle from servo control.
