Restraint Control Module: Removal

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
  1. Move front seats as far forward as possible. Remove center console tray. Remove 2 center console screws. Remove center console insert. Remove center console bracket retaining screws. At rear of center console, remove retaining screws.
  2. Lift center console and position as far to rear of vehicle as harness connectors will allow. Remove instrument panel lower finish panel. Remove RCM retaining screw under center of instrument panel. Disconnect RCM harness connector. Remove RCM bracket retaining screws. Remove RCM and bracket as an assembly.
