Test G: Instrument Cluster Module Does Not Respond To NGS Tester

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster White 22-pin harness connector C237. Inspect harness connector for damage. If harness connector is okay, go to next step. If harness connector is damaged, repair as necessary.
  2. Measure resistance between instrument cluster harness connector C237 terminal No. 1 (Tan/Orange wire) and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 2 (Tan/Orange wire). Measure resistance between instrument cluster harness connector C237 terminal No. 2 (Pink/Light Blue wire) and DLC harness connector terminal No. 10 (Pink/Light Blue wire). See Figure and Fig 1 . If both resistances are 5 ohms or less, replace instrument cluster and perform data link diagnostics. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST . If either resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Tan/Orange wire and/or Pink/Light Blue wire between instrument cluster and DLC. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
