Zero Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS): Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Monterey and 2004 Ford Freestar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
If first attempt to zero OCS system is unsuccessful, a second attempt must be made.
Observe these precautions prior to performing OCS system zeroing procedure:
- Ensure left front seat is completely assembled, OCS components are connected and no faults are present.
- Ensure OCS system is not below 32°F (0°C ) or above 113°F (45°C ). For optimal zeroing results, vehicle should be between 50°F -85°F (10°C -29°C ). Ensure vehicle is kept between 32°F -113°F (0°C -45°C ) during, and at least 30 minutes before, zeroing OCS system.
- Ensure nothing is on left front seat during, and prior to, zeroing procedure.
- Wait at least 8 seconds after ignition switch is in ON position before beginning zeroing procedure.
